Please be advised that B and A Grade may be combined. If you’re to start in A Grade, please turn up for the earlier start time.

Teams Classification

With the one stage remaining it’s fairly safe to announce the winners of the Team classification. All 3 have a large lead going into the last stage. Cobram CC have won A Grade, Berthong Road Boys have won B Grade, Coota Late starters look to have C grade sewn up and Leeton Tri-sports Two have won D Grade.

KOM Classification

The last potential for KOM points was at Bellbridge. Consequently, that competition has concluded. Christian MacDonald is the A Grade winner, Shaun Williams is the B Grade winner, Peter Telford is the C Grade winner and Hugh Satchell is the D Grade winner.

Riverina Champion

The Riverina Champion competition concluded with the running of the Time Trial. The Riverina Clasica Road Race and the Clasica Chrono Riverina ITT results are combined to arrive at the crowning of the Riverina Champion. Joel Finucane is the A Grade champion, he finished 1st in the road race and 10th in the Time Trial. Shaun Williams is the B Grade Chamipion, 2nd in the road race and 1st in the time trial. Geoff Hale is the C Grade Champion, 1st in the road race and 3rd in the time trial. Huge Satchell is the D Grade Champion, 1st in both events. The presentation for the Riverina Champion will be in Young after stage 6, the Criterium.

Other Classifications

The competition is far from over in the Veterans classification. Simon Haworth is still in reach of over-hauling Christian MacDonald in A Grade. 4 points separate Lionel Harmer and Ken Payne in B Grade. Kevin Goodman has that competition wrapped up in C grade and so has Neil Warnock in D Grade. Louise Strahan and Trudi Beck are separated by just the one point going into the last stage. Not only are they both after the Female overall win but the final podium spot is still within both their grasps. Max Holder has the best young riders sewn up in D Grade and Aaron Mills still has some work to do in order to securer the A Grade title.

Stage 6 – Cherry Festival Criteriums

The details for the stage 6 Criterium’s have been updated.

It’s Getting Interesting

GC Results posted

Anyone of the top 4 in A grade can take out the event in Young. Matt Clark rode an exceptional Time Trial to increase his lead. However, the doors opened up with Matt Clark unlikely to take the start line for stage 6. Matt won B Grade in the Tour of Bright last year (awesome result) and he’s keen to see how he’ll measure up in A Grade. The same goes for Christian MacDonald and Eamon Ryan, both will be making their way to Bright.

Shaun Williams has B Grade sewn up, he can use the Crit’s in Young to do a few victory laps. Mark Ward has also secured 2nd on GC. However, third place is far from securer. Lionel Harmer rode a blistering Time trial to move into third place, he’ll have his work cut out covering his challengers during the Crit’s to keep his podium spot.

Kevin Goodman’s win in the TT has moved him within striking range of the Tour Victory in C Grade. He’s put current leader Geoff Hale under a heap of pressure going into the final stage. Again the final podium spot is far from securer, Jed cutter will be feeling the heat from Peter Telford.

Hugh Satchell can join in with Shaun Williams and use the Crit’s in Young as an opportunity to do some victory laps. Neil Warrnock can also relax having secured 2nd place. However, anyone of half a dozen riders can take out the final podium spot in Young.

We can’t forget, whilst all these guys are fighting it out for Tour glory everyone else will be after stage glory. As Robbie McEwen pointed out, the fans only ever remember who won the last stage.

The Tri-athletes represented themselves well, Andrew MacPherson was the quickest on the day, his time was 38.39. Trudi Beck was the fastest female with a very handy time of 42.21 for the 25km.

Spread the Word!

As you are aware, day licences are available on the day of the TT. It’s a great opportunity for anyone that rides a bike to come along and set a time. For some, it could be a great opportunity to get some bragging rights. Challenge all those Tri-Athletes in your local area to come along and stick it to the roadies, if they can.

Change for Stage 5

The Time Trial distance is now 25km for all grades.

Stage 5 – Clasica Chrono Riverina ITT

A $22 day licence will be available for people interested in doing the Individual Time Trial only, on Sunday 21 Nov 2010. It’s a fantastic opportunity to come along and record a time against some of the fastest riders in the Riverina, how do you stack up?

Stage Four – Giro Della Bellbridge

Full Results

Another great day of racing. The Bellbridge race always lives up to expectations. A and C Grade are turning into a real contest. The top three in A Grade going into the stage failed to place in the top ten. That means others have moved within striking distance of the win. Eamon Ryan was the big mover going into stage 4. He’s now within 3 points of the outright lead.

Geoff Hale’s 3rd place leap frogged him into the leaders jersey’s, Geoff’s now 5 points in front of Peter Telford. Second. third, and fourth are all separated by 1 point.

Shaun Williams (B) and Hugh Satchell (D) are looking fairly comfortable with 2 stages to go. So to is Neil Warnock, second place in D Grade. It’s an all Coota affair in B Grade with Coota riders holding onto second and third respectively.

There’s a close tussle in all but D grade for the inaugural Veteran Title. Neil Warnock ‘s looking pretty good take out the title in D Grade.

Jeremy Scott’s entry into the Tour has placed some pressure on Aaron Mills for the junior prize in A Grade. Max Holder is looking good to take the Junior title in D Grade.

Louise Strachan has a comfortable lead in the D Grade Female category. However, can she be the first female to finish on the podium in D Grade? She’s 3 points off moving into third.

Cobram CC (A), Berthong Road Boys (B), Coota Late Starters (C) and Leeton Tri Sports Two (D) have stamped their authority on their respective grades. Bit of work to be done by the others to catch up. Two stages to go and a lot points up for grads, anything can happen.

Stage 5 – Clasica Chrono Riverina ITT

The little farming community of Marrar will host this years Individual Time Trial. The Time Trial course is part of the Coolamon Classic course and you can check out the course and profile from a link on the stage info page. More info on what’s happening to follow shortly.

$850 was raised after Jed Cutter generously donated the American Classic wheels he won at the Bertoldo Spring Classic. Phil Davies (Coota CC) dug deep and purchased the wheels after he was touched by Rob’s story. Phil’s purchase enable Jed to donate the $850 to Robert Hall, a club mate that had a serious accident at the end of a recent club race. I’m sure Rob will appreciate the efforts by Jed and his fellow club mates.

New Prize Category

Lanterne Rouge- is the competitor in last place in a cycling race. The phrase comes from the French “Red Lantern” and refers to the red lantern hung on the caboose of a railway train, which conductors would look for in order to make sure none of the couplings had become disconnected. The Lanterne Rouge is a significant prize in the Tour De France. Riders intentionally just get inside the time cut-off to try and win the prestigious category. The winner of the Lantern Rouge along with actual winner of the TDF are invited along to invitation only races after the Tour, post Criterium races.

Long time supporter of Tour De Riverina, Petrina Quinn, owner of Aussie Butt Cream, will be sponsoring the Lanterne Rouge category. The winners of the Lanterne Rouge in each grade will get to carry a Red Lantern for that stage. The Red Lantern will also double as a prize. Only riders that have ridden all stages and not scored any points for places will be eligible for the Lanterne Rouge prize. If there’s more than one person, an out of the hat draw will determine the winner. At the end of the Tour all riders who have completed all stages and not scored any points from places will go into a draw for a major prize from Aussie Butt Cream. They’ll also be a perpetual trophy to recognise the winner.
